Goddess of the sea, Namakaokaha‘i, is the older sister of Pele. She rules the ocean and waters. The sisters were in constant conflict & their fighting concerned their mother enough for her to encourage her daughter Pele to leave her home. Chased away, Pele found her way to Hawaii. Without Namakaokaha‘i, Hawaii would not have our beloved Fire Goddess Pele. Thus we must give Namakaokaha‘i her due respect.
